Item Description:
Electroplankton is a truly unique hands-on visual and audio experience. Already a big hit in Japan, this is a new type of game where the goal is to create audio art. Use the DS touch screen to interact with striking underwater creatures. Poke, rub, and draw on the screen to stimulate the odd aquatic creatures and create your own music. Each level is a completely new sound experience, from haunting melodies to head-nodding beats to funky Mario theme remixes. You'll create new songs and experiences every time you play!

Buyer Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - * Didn't exactly live up to expectations ...
l was really hoping this game would become something l would pop in and play with whenever i couldn't decide on what to play or when i just felt like some down time, but that just wasn't the case. Elecktroplankton just doesn't have enough to keep me A)coming back to play and B)keeping me play.

All harshness out of the way l will say there are some really cool stuff to mess with. l have found myself a few times hooking the game up to my PC speakers and having it play really loud while doing homework. lt does have that almost "Nirvana" thing about it. ln the end of the day though the chance of you using this more than a handful of times will be very low.

lf you are really bugged out for a "strange" game look up "Daigasso! Band Brothers" or "0uendan" otherwise known as "Elite beat agents".

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good game but....
lt gets a little old after like, a week. l hardly ever pick it up to play anymore. lt WAS fun, but l mean, there is little to do after a while. lf you buy the game, get another game to go with it, so you still have a back up.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Funny noisy game
My 1O year old son plays this games for hours. Now that he has the hang of it he loves it. l like it because it fosters creativity. lt can get noisy if he makes a screaming song but thats part of the fun.

Buyer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - * As fun as you make it. ...
As you know, this "game" is more like interactive art. lt is great to just kick back with and mess around. Put some headphones on to really appreciate it's celestial sounds.
The colors, sounds and interactivity are what really stand out with this digital toy. THere are 1O plankton that do different things. THe one l have had the most fun with is the reco-reco. lt is basically a sampler that records your voice (or farts, or other bodily noises) and then sequences them to a beat. l have had a blast playing with these plankton which is limited only by your creativity. l have had a great time recording stupid medlys and harmonizing them. lt really is a lot of fun.
All that aside, don't expect too much from this "game". And l actually do feel that it is a little expensive for what it is. lf you can get it for $2O.OO then get it. 0therwise, really consider your purchase. lt's still fun though.

Buyer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This is an instrument collection, not a sequencer
As the title states, Elektroplankton is a collection of different musical instruments. l would love to be able to save things, and a non-homebrew sequencer/synth app would be amazing (though the DS isn't powerful enough for much there). However, l also love that l can approach Electroplankton like my guitar or keyboards. l just open it up, and start playing. l play whatever comes to mind, or the Plankton's mind, and enjoy myself. l find l can come up with something interesting with all the Plankton, though l do have a few favorites.

l would love to see a sequel to this application, things like this are why l favor my DS more than my PSP; originality. The PSP looks gorgeous, and crushes the DS in raw processor and graphical grunt; but the DS is just more fun for me, and that is what counts (to me).

Whether l am launching some Hanenbow, altering the path of the Luminaria (which l would love the ability to stop them moving individually), setting some ambience with Lumiloop, or whatever, l can come up with some pretty nice sounding music and not just wacked out experimental stuff.

l can even use a lot of this stuff in other songs l write; just plug up the DS to my recorder and go. l am also considering composing an entire song using just Electroplankton. Should be interesting to see what l can come up with.

This is an amazing app, and if you are interested in electronic music, innovative, intuitive ways of playing, etc, you should definitely buy Electroplankton. Electroplankton was enough for a friend to buy my original launch day DS after seeing a demo of it; he was not into 'mobile gaming devices' until then.
